take exit taco on the tasty-town expressway

oh, the feasts in this god forsaken city never cease!
when i think i've had enough and i make vows to never consume more than my capacity again, friendly waiters recommend lovely dishes.

alors, ce soir...
my absolutely lovely friend, elizabeth, and i went to cafeteria in chelsea. i hadn't been there in 6 years or so, but recalled being rather fond of it back then.

we were wise enough to make reservations, as the last few times we tried to walk in, we were told the wait would be ridiculous (well, ridiculous to those who are ravenous) and were glared at by patrons dining outside with their fancy fedoras and small accessory dogs.

d'accord. we strolled in a bit early and were seated promptly.

i commenced to pour over the menu, distraught by all the choices. sometimes i feel like menus should only have 5 items on them for those of us who are completely indecisive.

so, to begin, we sipped on sparkling water and my heinous request of a "heap of limes" was graciously fulfilled...along with this came a little bread basket with two of the most scrumptious (yes, i'm using yesterday's waitress' favorite word forever) little buttermilk biscuits and the sweetest butter i've had in an eternity.

good start.

so, we chatted, mouths full of buttery, biscuit-y magic and sipped our lime-y, bubbly water.

elizabeth decided on the burger - always a good way to gauge such eateries.
we also decided on a mac n' cheese appetizer (mmmm. so comforting.)

i, being completely irresolute (in terms of food) and wanting to eat everything, everywhere, for all of time...couldn't make a decision. so, i asked the waiter which was his favorite (a signature move for those of us who just can't bring ourselves to choose one deliciousness over another).

i was given three choices, all ranging in price, which instantaneously made me like this guy. i'm so used to wait staff pointing to the most expensive item on the menu.

i settled on the braised short rib tacos.

within what seemed like moments (yes, our conversations are so enthralling and entertaining that even when famished and waiting for food, time flies) a plate of 3 luscious tacos was bestowed upon me...their presence was epic! they blinded me with their promises of ending my starvation.

i was immediately speeding down the tasty-town expressway. 3 soft tortillas, overflowing with shredded shorts ribs, sweet potato puree, blistered corn, and apple salsa. i ate two and then recalled last night's horrors (remember? couldn't breathe. couldn't sit. was too full?!)...so i held on the third and wrapped it up. (watch out friday lunch, cuz taco's gonna be in town again).

all in all, a good experience...but hanging around with elizabeth is always good times, so this helps the situation.

now, since i hadn't digestively challenged myself, i chose an alternate form of torture: walking in stacked ankle boot pumps for 20+ blocks.

needless to say, i had no problems sitting during the commute home this time.

alors, oui.
merci, elizabeth, mon cherie.
it's always wonderful having dinner avec toi.

...now, i really need to figure out how to have those "read more" links put up instead of having all this contemptible blather all over the place, causing you to have scroll anxiety. i just need to get on that.

for now, bare with me.
i'll get around to it soon enough.
really. i will.
